Tofu is made by coagulating soy milk and pressuring the resulting curds into blocks. Tofu is great for your health, so I decided to make a healthy snack that can also be enjoyed by vegetarians as a meal.

Tofu has been shown to be heart healthy. It is probably one of the most balanced proteins in the non-animal category. It also is low in carbs, and high in healthy fats. Furthermore, the isoflavones, the things that make it healthy for the heart, may have a number of other health benefits.

Tofu, sesame leaves, egg, cheese, carrot, bread crumbs, and if you want, spicy pepper.

1. Mash the tofu, and squeeze out as much water as you can. (I found out that I didn’t squeeze out enough water and the mixture was hard to flip in the pan later because it kept breaking apart.) Add sesame leaves, chopped carrot, and an egg to to the tofu. Also, add bread crumbs. Usually you can buy them, but I made my own from dried bread.

2. Now you make patties with the mixture. First you take a small amount on your palm and make a thing flat patty, then place cheese on it, then add some more of the mixture. Make sure you cover all the cheese inside because if it seeps out on the pan then it starts to get a bit messy.

Add oil to the pan and cook the patties until brown and golden. I think I made my patties too fat, so it took a while to cook. I recommend that the patties should be made either smaller or thinner.

I ate my tofu steak with soy sauce, but ketchup will be nice as well.
