I received a request from my mother to cook an apple cake because she was sick of the bad tasting-apples she accidentally bought. So! I decided to bake a nice, warm, sweet apple cake with tastes of cinnamon.

Apples have virtually no fat, that if you have about three apples a day, it kills the crave/appetite for junk food or snacks and it is low in calorie. Apples are also great for your gums and teeth. They also aid digestion, so if you are consuming oily food that are bound to give you acidity have some apples in between your meals. Apples contain fruit sugars that are instant sources of energy, so if you want to energize yourself, have an apple or apple juice.

Eating apples also helps you prevent many diseases such as parkinson’s and alzheimer’s due to phenolic in the apples as well as osteoporosis, and manages asthma and diabetes. Flavanoids are chemicals in an apple that are far superior to plain old Vitamin C and work harder by reducing your hear disease and stroke risk by almost 26%.

So why not go grab your apples and take a deep bite or enjoy them in a delectable cake! I also like to call this cake the up-side down cinnamon apple cake because…well we’re going to cook it upside down!

Let’s get started.


For topping:

  • 3 large apples
  • 4 table spoons of butter
  • 2t of cinnamon powder
  • 2/3 cups of brown sugar

For cake:

  • 2 large eggs
  • cinnamon powder
  • honey
  • 2t baking powder
  • 1 and 3/4 cups of all purpose flour
  • milk
  • 3T of olive oil
  • pinch of salt
  • 2/3 cups brown sugar

1. In a bowl, mix the all purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon powder. In a separate bowl, mix olive oil with brown sugar, then mix in the eggs and at this point, if you want, add vanilla extract.

2. Mix in the dry ingredients until blended. During the process, add milk to allow easy mixing.

3. In a bowl, place thinly sliced and peeled apple pieces with brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter. Tumble them so they mix well. Then place them on the bottom of your pan.

4. Take the mixture from before and pour it evenly over the apples. Bake in a preheated oven of 250℃ for 30-45 minutes.

Flip the cake onto a plate and place the apples that may be left in the pan on the top, and there you go! The smell of the cake baking was magnificent. Enjoy!
